The Donald Family is known for inventing and patenting what was to become one of New Zealand's most famous wool presses, the Solway press, later simply known as the Donald's press. Read more at HISTORIC BUILDINGS.
Cobblestones is now restoring this late 1800s Grade 2 Heritage listed building with a period style wooden shingle roof, following a conservation plan by Gina Jones Architects – and we are seeking community support to achieve this.
The strong links between the Donald family and the foundation of the sheep industry in Wairarapa make the Donald Woolshed a precious taonga worthy of preservation.
